The first show is THE ELECTRIC COMPANY. It was an educational series that was shown on PBS. The series lasted 6 seasons, from October 25th, 1971 - April 15, 1977. There were about 780 episodes shown. The series featured such well known actors &
actresses as Bill Cosby, Rita Moreno, Morgan Freeman, Joan Rivers & Gene Wilder. The show continued in reruns from 1977 - 1985. There were several dvd boxsets released in 2006 featuring about 20 uncut episodes per set. On January 23, 2009 a new version of THE ELECTRIC COMPANY began airing on PBS, but showed little resemblance to the 1970's version.

My memory: I remember coming home from school every single day, to quickly do my homework & then plop down in front of the television set to watch 3 shows in a row...Mr. Roger's Neighborhood, The Electric Company & 3-2-1 Contact. In fact, I always remembered feeling somewhat sad when the show ended knowing that I had a "long time" before the next day to see it again. I was overjoyed to see the release of the dvd sets...I was able to have acquired 1 of them, and I watch it every so often to bring back the joys that The Electric Company instilled in me.
