BACK TO THE FLATWOODS MUSEUM HOMEPAGE
WELCOME!! if you are reading this, then you are taking a closer look at the pages that will become a sort of scrapbook of "VANISHING TREASURES", various things that have had some part in my life. Actually a scrapbook of items & information that
has important significance to me (or others close to me)...maybe some of you may remember these, but I suspect that many of you who peruse these pages over the coming years will have NEVER heard of alot of these things. First...let me start off by saying...that I am a person who dwells on the past, maybe that is good maybe that is bad...each of you will have your own opinions and I respect that....after all, we are all individuals. I dwell on the past, because to me...the future is scary...it holds MANY things that are uncertain like: health, finances, society, economy, weather, career & the list probably could go on forever....but you get the general idea...YES..I am a pessimist...I always have been, probably always will be....BUT when I ponder on various things from the past, It takes me to a good place...just thinking of all the things that I have been...thus far...privledged to do, to visit, to see &
to interact with. I hope this makes sense in some sort of way. Since I am a self-proclaimed "fanatic" on museums & preserving history and the like, I thought there is NO better way to "SAVE" these things than by making a sort of online scrapbook. Many of the places & items you will see are...sadly...no longer in existance, or have since been re-named BUT at least we will ALWAYS
have the photos, history & memories to remind us of those "days since past". After all....once we are gone all we can take with us are our memories....
I will attempt to put some historical info and perhaps some personal reflections with the photos. Keep in mind that this is MY reflections and things that meant something to me...Some of these places are STILL very much here and STILL very much alive.
I encourage each & every one of you to keep a diary/journal of your life...I only wish that I had kept one when I was a youth...I didn't begin until I was 19 years of age...But at least I CAN tell you what has happened each & every day of the last 18+ years (for the most part). If you don't write stuff down, then your histories will be lost & your future generations will have NO idea what their ancestors did during their lives.
And now.....ON with the scrapbook.....
